Since the mythical foundation of the city of Prague (here in this blog, we will refer to the city using the original Czech name of  Praha) bye the wise Princess Libuše, the Czech art, and art nouveau in particular, seems strongly fascinated by the woman beauty. Devoted to eternal feminine mysteries, the Czech art nouveau (or, in Czech language, Secese) artists were able to capture the essence of the New Woman, the gate into the deeper forces of the nature. And these deeper forces were depicted in the form of the Lines, the curves and the whip movement of the Secese lines; and the female beauty, at the same time dangerous and fascinating, ethereal and demoniac, without any Christian or maternal implications, was captured and then painted, sculptured, drawn, modeled.

Secese is one of the most feminine of the international Art Nouveau movement declinations. This blog will be entirely dedicated to this feminine new style developed in Czech Lands, in praise of Woman and in memory of our beloved Princess Libuše …
